I am a full member of Resolution and the Family Mediators Association and am accredited by the Family Mediation Council in All Issues (Children and Finance and Property).

I am passionate about expanding the reach of Family Mediation and encouraging access for all; as such I am a keen advocate of promoting online mediation (video calls).  Whilst acknowledging that this not for everyone, I believe that it is a way of opening up availability of the service to people with disabilities; those with child care constraints or simply to satisfy client choice in a changing world.

To extend the reach, I also offer Legal Aid Services for family mediation.

My role as a mediator is to help you and your ex partner work through the issues you have,  I cannot provide advice, but as your mediator I can give you lots of legal and financial information to help you make your own decisions.

I work out of a number of locations – including Leeds City Centre, Bradford, Keighley.

I have been a Family Magistrate in West Yorkshire for ten years. During this time I gained a wealth of experience of the family legal system and know first hand what works well and what doesn’t.  I am a firm believer that if parents can reach an agreement between themselves about their children it is far more powerful and effective. This experience led to my qualification as a Family Mediator as Melanie truly sees the benefits
– it saves time, cost and is focused on your children, but most of all, it is far less stressful.

Whilst I work across the full spectrum of issues, due to this first hand experience in the courts, increasingly I am asked to take on complex child cases.

Prior to this, I worked in various roles across the Financial Services Industry, specialising in consumer over-indebtedness and credit and fraud policy.  I am an expert in dealing with people across society in highly confidential and often emotive and distressing situations. All of this experience has given me a wealth of experience to support clients in financial matters.
