I am a qualified family law specialist solicitor with nearly 4 years post-qualification experience and 8 years in total. I joined Birketts in May 2020 but prior to this I trained and worked at two family law specialist firms based in London. This allowed me to build up experience across a wide range of areas in family law, including domestic abuse.

I am adept at representing client’s on applications for non-molestation orders and occupation orders, as well as other matters that may follow on from domestic abuse domestic abuse being perpetrated in a relationship. This includes disputes around children (including child arrangements), divorce, financial issues arising from divorce and unmarried couples dealing with financial issues arising from separation.

I appreciate it is a difficult step for a victim of domestic abuse to reach out and seek support, so I therefore ensure that my approach is a sensitive one. I understand that discretion will often be needed, as it is not always easy for a victim to be able to speak freely about the abuse being perpetrated against them, as they may still be in the abusive relationship. I am able to be flexible in how and when I communicate with a victim of domestic abuse. I also understand that it may be necessary to act quickly and to make any application on a without notice basis, so that the perpetrator is not tipped off.

My previous firms were based in less affluent parts of London and this resulted in a significant amount of domestic abuse cases, as well as other cases which had domestic abuse as a central issue to them. For example, care cases (applications brought by the local authority based on a child being at risk of harm) and children disputes. I believe that this places me in a strong position to represent victims of domestic abuse and am confident I can deliver a good outcome for them.
